It had longed been my hope to arrange such
a dinner for the members of the Club Havana Forum as everyone
seems to get along so well and, despite many small herfs over
the years, there were still far too many members who had not had
an opportunity to meet face to face. Eventually many factors
came together that made this possible....and the announcement of a
ban next year made it a necessity.
After months of planning ...or what others would see as the
shameless begging from sponsors and merciless bullying of
members....the day of the Club Havana Cigar dinner finally
arrived.
Guests came from every corner of the UK mainland and we were
honoured to have Mish of C.Gars Ltd as our guest of honour...
especially when she arrived with even more donations, including
the beautiful Limited Edition Trinidad Cigar case (complete with
three Robustos Extras) that had only been released and delivered
that day!
The dinner was to be a relatively informal affair, in keeping
with the friendly atmosphere of the forum, but we still needed a
reasonable amount of organisation to ensure that all of the
"events" of the evening could take place but still leave enough
time for everyone to actually be able to meet and talk.
Everything seemed to go like clockwork, without anyone feeling
like they were being timed. A Champagne reception with a nicely
aged Montecristo Especial #1 gave guests the opportunity of
meeting each other. It was great to actually speak to friends
who you have "spoken" to for years on the forum.
The sit down dinner followed, which included a very old El Rey
Del Mundo Demi Tasse between courses, and dessert was
accompanied by various ports and dessert wines and a wonderful
Custom Rolled Cuban Salamone.
Not only had the cigars and after dinner wines been donated to
the forum specifically for the dinner, but we also received many
other donations of cigars and accessories for raffle and auction
and which raised over £1000 for the forum and a local charity.
The dinner seemed to be great success. Friendships were created
and extended, good causes benefited and all whilst having a
great time doing what we like best....smoking fine cigars in great
company.
Many contributed to this event but without the very generous and
varied contributions and support of C.Gars Ltd, the dinner would
not have been such a great success and we certainly would not
have raised anything like the amount that resulted from the
auction and raffle.
Very many thanks to Mitch and Mish for helping make this event
such a success....
your friendship is greatly appreciated by the members of Club
Havana Forum.
